It was a hot July day and I went to the Île-d'Orléans island to paint a landscape with real lavender. A beautiful lavender field, a lot of bees and other insects, a hot scorching sun and a lot of tourists. But I wanted to portray the field as deserted, so that you can feel the beauty of nature. I wanted to convey the flowering of lavender, and not the fuss around it. This picture was painted plein air with oil paints in one copy and in one size.
